Title: 93 quits when hot
Post by: Hogie778 on September 14, 2016, 11:53:50 AM
My nephew bought a '93 non-turbo automatic.  We have rebuilt a ton of stuff.  The only issue left is that when driving, the engine simply shuts off.  Initially I thought it was a fuel delivery issue, but it's definitely an electrical issue.  It begins after the vehicle warms up and gets progressively worse.  Initially the engine quits for about 2 seconds and relights by itself.  The time of not running increases until it just won't run or start.  After cooling for a while, back to running fine.  I know very little about these vehicles and am in need of some advice.

Are you getting a check engine light at all? Any chance you have some error codes stored?

Sounds like the igniter is going bad.  Being heat sensitive is one of its failure modes...

I second the ignitor issue.
