Was thinking about what to do (besides getting her cleaned up and going). Was thinking ecu chip fmic mbc bov would like to put an upgraded ignition but I keep getting told at part houses and places that the ignition control module is built in to the dizzy but I can plainly see that it's not but don't know where to get one. And any ideas on a good small start that would go good with what I already said would be awesome for an easier planning for when I out all my parts on order

you actually cant upgrade the dizzy's on our cars but thankfully our dizzy's are actually pretty well made, i reccomend getting some nice upgraded ignition wires and a ignition coil, get a nice cone air filter, contact Rocketman for a really good cone filter adapter and the upgraded ECU known as the Rocketchip, best upgrade you can get for the capri, getting a fmic with all 2.5" hard pipe makes a huge difference along with a nice 2.5" exhaust upgraded bov is needed, boost controller you can upgrade the fuel pump wireing. that would make a HUGE difference what i listed

External Ignition Module?  You mean the coil right? XR2 and N/A capri's primarily have the igniter and module inside the distributor, as with a large number of cars.

And on the subject of upgraded distributors, they're not the be-all end-all of technology, if you're nuts you can go the megasquirt route with a miata CAS sensor, and a Ford EDIS-4 coil.

The stock ignition is good for over 250 hp, you can upgrade the coil if you want but its really not necessary. The ignition module IS inside the dizzy, the box on the outside is just an RF interference suppressor.

RC: Miata CAS works best with Miata coilpacks, and Ford EDIS packs work best with the EDIS controller and 36-1 crank trigger, if you're going standalone.
