Is that the rubber things under the hood on each side of the engine? there looks like a bolt or something with rubber it sits on, and a domed thing it sits on...

my rubber is cracked there, and the car seems to creak quite a bit, but not sure if that's related...

Hey Gus,
do you have any additional chassis stiffening like under body braces?
i think the 91+ models had more bracing from factory. unfortunately i have a 90 model and every time i angle my way up a ramp it sounds like the impending disaster

Hey Yen! No. I have only the strut brace. I have it on three of my cars. I'm probably will have built a roll bar for my street cruiser this winter. Not sure how many points it will have. I'm thinking of setting it up to run in the pony express race and silver state classic. I eventually want to run in the 150mph class. I'll need to change gearing as 140mph is red line on the engine and I don't want to put that kind of stress on it. I've made several runs in these races as a navigator,so I've not had the excitement as a driver yet. One has to start in the slower classes and work up to the faster ones with provable experience. You've not done anything in cars until you've gone 160mph plus and not have to worry about cops clocking you for a ticket. Gus oh! there I go again. When that roll bar or cage is built it will stiffen the chassis.  Gus

no doubt it will. good luck with your endevours.
to run the 150mph race does the car need to be street legal and registered? 150mph = roughly 240 - 250kph. i cant even do 120kph without the doors falling off.
150mph could be done with slight mods and a looong strip. (ohh by the way how long is the strip? or is it a continuous circuit like nascar?)
so are you changing the final drive or swapping in a competition gearbox? i think the b6t with uprated boost will push 150mph with a bit of effort, sounds very interesting. post a vid of your run, will you?
make sure to tape up all your panel gaps, take off the wing mirrors and screw in the hard top tight!
best of luck, mate

Hey Yen! The cruiser{Janis} will do 140mph now. I've had her to 135mph several times and she was still climbing. These races are run on highways that the state closes down to public traffic for the duration of the event. The open class cars have been clocked at over 220mph at points in the run. The hi-way stretches are 50 to 100 miles in length. It can be exciting.
