I have a 1991 mercury capri and located on the engine block is a hole, (next to the oil cooling unit). what goes in that hole? a plug? a hose?

hi thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate that. My brother says that both sensors are there, in place, the hole is about 4 inches lower than those.

does the hole your refering to have a 1/2-3/4 inch bung, with a thick rubber cap.... a bung the same size as the L-shaped oil return lookin rig on the oil pan???
if thats what you guys are talking about...
those are bungs left over from the rally car days when mazda ran a sort of PCV system like a jetta uses... with a pump to evacuate crankcase gasses.. i think it was experimental, for WRC...
ive got a block in my garage ill try to get a photo of the back side of it.. see if we can't solve this mystery...

the bung is there with the rubber cap, about 4inches above the bung is where the hole is located .

the only hole i see on my block above the the bung is a freze plug on the right side of the oil cooler ??? and you can see it in rockets pick?? is that what your talking about ?
