i am not getting a spark on my 91 capri.   the cap, rotor and wires are all new.  at first the engine stalled dead. it restarted after the engine cooled.  this time it stalled and will not start period.  coil ohm readings are okay. bad PCM?

bad ignitor in the distributor. do a search here for those terms, tons of info on it

Bonehead question #2  Is there a painless way of checking the codes without a reader.

Yes, you jumper a harness plug under the hood then flick the ignition key on, the CEL will flash codes
