I am a good XR2 mechanic but I'm on the wrong side of the US - what do you need help with?

Also, welcome to TeamCapri!

I have a slight wobble in the harmonic balancer only when at idle. I smooths out with just a litte extra rpms. It also kind of hesitates during acceleration. It has new heads, gaskets, distributer, seals, oversized exhaust ect. I bought it that way and it ran perfect for the first 6 months. Then I noticed the wobble and slight miss and I parked it for the winter. Now I want to drive it again but don't know where to go for help. It's a 1991 xr2 turbo. When I first got it I was going to buy your upgraded ecu but now I just want to drive it.
Thanks

Here's some info on crank snouts & pulley wobble. Note that the 4 vs 8 slots in the pulley is Miata specific.http://www.miata.net//garage/crankshaft.html

The best check you can do is pull the crank pulley and timing cog off & inpsect for keyway wear.

How do I get the nut off. Is it reverse threads? I believe I have the small nose, pre 10/90 on door.

It's tough to get the main crank bolt out. It is not reverse threaded. I make a crank stabilizer tool to help, seen  here: http://www.werbatfik.com/uplimg/b6_crankshaft_tool.jpg (http://www.werbatfik.com/uplimg/b6_crankshaft_tool.jpg)

You can fabricate something yourself too if you're in a pinch, you'lll need to find some way to stabilize the crank. They're very helpful for re-torquing the main bolt, crank nose problems usually arise from lack of correct torque on the crank bolt.

You can also use the starter-bump method to crack the bolt loose.
