Title: Front blinkers - any tips?
Post by: JimmyGermany on August 30, 2020, 01:23:12 PM
Gentlemen!
Got myself a decent set of used front (clear) blinkers, and will be changing them on my next dry day off.
Any hints or tips for the job?
Why are the wires on them SO long? Is the connector that far back?

Cheers
James

I've had the lenses off to try and clean them, but one of the sockets is broken.
I'll let you all know what happens.

The wires on the housing run down into the body i think, you'll have to trace them to the plug. Alternatively you can drill out the socket and epoxy a new one in, the stock housings/terminals suck. Most autoparts stores carry cheap sockets that are much better

Gentlemen!

Wasn’t quite as easy as expected. The wires run behind the headlights and (at least on the left) required the air filter to be removed.

I was confused as my “new” housings has about 4 feet of wire on them ;-) but it seems the previous owner of them had spliced something into them, and left all the extra wires (and tape and crap) attached. Anyway, with some cursing and a soldering iron, got the left one changed out. Right one looks easier.

Thanks for the tips!
James
