ROUGH idle and TERRIBLE accereration.
« Reply #30 on: March 04, 2009, 06:35:00 AM »

OK, well thats what I needed. I will set the TDC on the turning of the crank half way between where it visually reaches top and where it starts to go back down. We'll see how accurate it will be.

Thank you

Phillip, Rocketman and all. The timing was the problem for the most part. The timing  was not set right by ford service because the camshaft was off because of the worn key and key way. However service installed a new key and it is holding firm but off center with the cams so I put a rod down the spark plug hole to get TDC while holding the cams in place by myself and installing the belt. It DID make a LOT of difference in resolving the idle and terrible acceleration problem. However I ordered a Cam Clamp Universal Timing Gear Locking Tool which will be hear monday so that I can re-time it more accurately. The vacuum part I ordered is still not here, but the reseting of the TDC made a huge difference.  It actually has some acceleration now and a much better idle.

I guess I missed something what part do you need? E-mail me on the radiator tomorrow it is a stock OEM part.
I have 2 parts cars that need to be parted out and chopped up for the scrapper ASAP. I have a 93 N/A and a 93 XR2. I am swapping the XR2 motor & trans into my 91 tomorrow and need to liquidate all the shit now! Someone needs a window regulator? Drives side or passenger? Head light assy. Body parts, etc let me know. Everything has to go! My Harley is whining for attention the economy is tight and I have too many Capri’s’!

Email me with what you need for 94 parts, and we can discuss the APEXi unit. Better yet, just email me your phone number!

OK after reading through this thread on the crankshafts that break on the 90-91's it's mentioned that one of the links about how to tell wether or not it's a bad short one or not doesn't completely apply to our cars. How can you do a quick check on ours wether or not it's one of the bad cranks?
