Stock Oil Filter relocate?
« on: August 06, 2010, 05:31:00 PM »

The tiny stock oil filter in it's difficult location: Has anyone done a "remote-location" modification? Is there a good source for an adapter to do this modification?  Thanks

I find it is in actually a pretty decent location...easily accessed from the top and bottom.

Run a 7317 filter instead of the tiny 6607. Its almost twice as long.

Thanks for the larger filter info... I'll live with the stock location for a while before desiding to re-locate it or not. I found a kit that has a 20mm thread adapter but this isn't at the top of my "to-do" list.  Thanks again.

I'm sure there is a kit out there that would work, I've never done the research to find out what would work though.

---just did a quick check, it looks like the 6607 is a common honda filter...so maybe a honda relocation kit might work with some tweaking?

This kit has an adapter for the 20mm filter thread but I'm not sure about the diameter fit. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/51715/10002/-1?parentProductId=1032933
As long as it will fit the engine block, a wide variety of filters can be used. It's just a thought for now...after I've lived with the stock set-up for a while I'll deside if I want to go this route.
