You will boost creep to oblivion.

Also is the stock downpipe seriously only 2 inches?

Yeah, I ran mine just to move it around, but never drove it.

Yep, seems that way, quite tiny.

if you have boost creep it is not that..you have a leak somewhere or a POS Boost Controller. Every turbo car i have ever had i run a full exhaust when i do it. normally you will gain about 1-2 PSI if you do a full swap of the exhaust.

bypass your controller now and set it back up to the factory one. see if it still creeps. if so check for leaks.

An otherwise stock XR2 will try to boost to 15psi if you rip the exhaust off. Not recommended. Wastegate hole is too small and it throws it all into the turbine.

When I swapped to the Tbird hybrid, I ran an open downpipe for a day or two till i was able to weld one up, I didnt have issues though cause the VJ11 port is larger and I had ported the living hell out of it to avoid creep issues

Boost control was setup in stock form. Just too much exhaust flow like rocketman says.

Its all good now, all I did is take out the cat and put a pipe in its place. I just didnt finish it yesterday so I bolted my stock tbird downpipe to the end of the xr2 dp (2" xr2 to 2.5" tbird lol) and ran it out behind the front tire. It was obnoxious. Passed three law enforcement officers on the way to finish the job today.

Seems like it picked up a little power and sound deleting the cat. Good for now until I can replace the whole exhaust.

i did not realize that you had NO EXHAUST at all...i thought you meant that you deleted the cat and ran a full exhaust all the way through.

yes no exhaust is a bad thing.
