Coil-overs
« on: April 12, 2009, 10:45:00 AM »

O.K. I just paypalled the coil overs on e-bay. My local midas shop says they can put them on for the price of a strut install. I read on some posts about trimming the seats for more drop, does anyone have experience with coil-over install on a 94 xr2?Thanks

what kind of coil overs you get? i got coil overs from ground control and had to do no seat trimming. only time i heard anyone trimming them is for wheel clearance for aftermarket wheels. noting about lowering the car. I did a 2" drop on my car.

Yes I got them over 2 weeks after I should. They said UPS problem. I have not put them on car yet. I am taking the car to shop Tuesday for stumbling/running rich prob. Then we will see if I want to have then installed.A couple places said they would install them for the price of strut install.Wish me luck. Rocky

change them yourself, it is very easy!

I changed the springs on my cedric in japan with no help or instructions and those are harder then coilovers since you just do a one for one swap. just changing the springs you have to compress the spring and remove the end cap to swap it out. requires a special tool and pain in the ass some times..

I got my car out of the shop today, runs great. My mechanic found several vacume leaks, not the stuff I had done to the car either, to my surprise. Now for the coil overs. Russ what does a crossover pipe go for. I need to put a good BOV on this thing.Rocky

Depends what type of bov your looking to run, and how much your looking to spend on the setup.

Could you get some measurements on the coilovers for me?

What exactly do you want me to measure? I should be able to since they are in the box on my bench in the garage. Believe it or not my wife does not understand the pressing need to get them on the car BEFORE the MACG!ROCKY

I measured the front one,or at least it has a big letter F on it. 7 1/8 high and 4 wide, inches. The springs are blue if it matters. Acording to the Email I gotfrom the supplier they were going to be red. It doesn't matter to me but if it does to you...be ready for stuff like that from this company. I will see if it was worth it if they fit. Hope that helps. If I can get some help from my IT department, my 16 year old son Alex, I will try to post pics. But I'm telling you these ain't ground control quality!Rocky

Thanks!

If you could get the same of one of the rear coils, and also the base that'd be great.

Thanks again!
