Best exhaust size

Hi all,
I currently have a 92 Turbo Clubsprint in Aus. I have fitted a rocket chip, CAI with cone filter, bigger BPV with a adjustable boost controller and gauge running about 14PSI. Looking to open exhaust up in two weeks with a 2.25 inch exhaust. Question should I really be going 2.5, if so why. Thanks in advance.
Oh have a 2016 GT mustang so I am helping your economy too 😬

2.25 is more than enough. I've known 2.5 to cause creep if the wastegate is ported.

I'd have to agree with Gaz on this one. 2.25 is best, especially since its a Clubsprint.
If it was me I'd leave it stock just to retain the value.

Thanks guys, my thoughts also, will stay with 2.25, but my clubbie is nowhere near stock but my wife's is.😋

That data wasn't given in the OP, haha! I suppose if you've got a hybrid or an Evo turbo or what have you, on there, then go bigger.

Stock turbo, just to many mods not to be original anymore. We have this discussion in the clubbie group, I don't know one that is perfectly stock any more.

One correction to the post about creep - if the wastegate is not ported, you'll see creep. I'm currently running stock with a 2.5" after the catalytic converter and I see creep in the winter when the air is dense. I will be changing it all soon. I'm going vj11 hybrid with a ported gate in a week or two. I'll try to document the build and make a post.

I’d go with the 2.5 exhaust cuz if you ever decide to upgrade the turbo later on, you’ll be ready.

DERP. That's what I meant.

How in the HELL are y'all finding VJ11's so easily? Can't find much that isn't on ebay...

Craigslist for the used core (which was quite good) eBay for brand new CHRA delivered for £135 ($171 USD). Check eBay UK , seller is "nerings". I didn't really need the CHRA, but why not get a new one at that price!

Ended up going 2.25 from advise from exhaust guy. Maybe a bit loud for my liking but feels so much better. A mod for the money and twin stainless tips added at no extra. Thanks for all the feed back guys.

Have a 5-speed 91 XR2, pretty much stock, went with 2.25" with a universal cat and a glasspack resonator that's about 20" long, with a dual chrome tip.  Sounds pretty good, makes the car even a bit more "zippy" to drive.  Also fitted a front strut tower bar, and that little motor is very entertaining to drive!  Certainly a LOT more fun than a 1973 Porsche 914 1.7 I just picked up...what was I thinking, lol...

Not much difference in performance between 2.25" and 2.5" (i've run both sizes)

2.25" is marginally easier to route up & over the rear axle, it's tight back there

Yup, I was gonna go with 2.5", but once it got up on the rack, the muffler shop looked at the clearance at the back, and strongly suggested I go with 2.25" instead.  No regrets at all!
