i need a new starter.. any thoughts or tips?
-
Never had to do one in-car. Might want to take off the intake manifold brace for extra breathing room. There's two bolts from one side, and one from the other on it
-
I did it once. super easy. can reach all nuts and bolts from top if you like, then drop it down and remove from under. reverse to install. Matt is correct about that bracket.
30 mins tops.
I got a used one from a mazda friend. he was talking to me this morning about parting with a 626 he has. I like the mazda engines now that I own one. har har.

That's great news. Thanks for insight, guys!

Did you get around to changing that starter? how did it go?
-
I found it easiest to remove the starter from the bottom. Pull the intake brace, quick job with two people.

Rather then new thread, i'll add to here.
I think I kill the starter trying to start to much. It doesn't even click now.
Where exactly is the starter motor? Is it visible? I was going to try the knocking on it trick before replacing.
page 03-06-10 doesn't really show much.
