WTB Tonneau Hardware
« on: August 29, 2015, 10:34:35 PM »

The headlines says it all. I'm looking for all the parts necessary to attach a tonneau cover my '91 Capri. If you're parting-out a car they might still be attached even if there's no tonneau.

I don't know if the link works, but I can send pictures of the clips to anyone who wants them. Does anyone have a copy of the installation instructions that they can post or give a link to?

Roo-sport.com has a good used one looking at their parts list including the clips. He also list just the clips. That's one of them rare items.... supply and demand.
Is your girlfriend that ugly you have to cover her up? Lol, jk  :)

"Roo-sport.com has a good used one looking at their parts list including the clips. He also list just the clips."

We do not have any covers in stock.....those are one of the "sometimes we do-sometimes we don't" items (like hardtops)....it just depends on what we can acquire throughout the year. This year, I only found 2 covers to purchase, and they sold within 2 days. I DO have dash clips, however they do not have the (easily made) brackets.

The website is merely a guide at this point....I cannot make changes to it, and haven't been able to, in 4 years. The best way to see what we have available, is to call us: (503)919-4227 ((503)9194CAPri). Current pricing can be obtained by emailing us a catalog request - I'll send you a copy of our current catalog, containing the items we have in stock - many of which are NOT listed on the website. You can get a copy of the catalog, by emailing us at: CapriTypeR@Gmail.com.

I picked up a nice tonneau off Craigslist and struggled to find the hardware too. I found the clips at local fabric shops and the nylon belting too. I think they were 1" wide IIRC. I just folded the nylon belting to make about 1-1/2" long triple thick ends and stitched them all four sides and across in an X pattern with fishing line. Then I used an awl and then a plumb-bob to bore a hole through the triple thick key fob like end I had created and ran the dash screws through the holes. I found the Tenax posts at Eagleday.com under the Mazda Miata tonneau posts. Here's a link.

I put a single small washer under the posts to raise them up a tad so they would clear the bodywork properly. My new tonneau fits great and I think I spent about 75 bucks for the whole tonneau and attachments.

No installation instructions needed. I covered it pretty thoroughly - just do one dash screw at a time (don't take all 3 out at once). No need for the official metal clips, nylon belting works perfectly for me. If you are having a hard time imagining what I did I can post some pictures.

I'll try...
You'll have to remove the small round covers (and sheet metal screws benieth) from the front of the boot area so the Tenax posts can be screwed in (with a small washer or two to adjust height - see pic 2).
