Title: What to do?
Post by: Shagdasty on July 31, 2009, 03:10:00 AM
Hi All, I have my engine torn down to cyl walls and I'm thinking  I'm all ready this far (and there was anti-freeze in the oil) do I want to change the water pump? Would it be easier to just pull the engine? I would like to pull the pan to clean & flush it...

I would go for the pull. There verry simple to pull so it will be worth your time.

It'd be silly not to replace it at that point.

So if it pulls easy as just a block does it go back in fairly easy as a complete engine?

not exactly...did you leave the transmission in place?

One thing I can recommend is to remove the front crank pulley that will make life somewhat easier

Hey Rocketman, All I have done is to remove the Head complete with intake, exhaust manifolds and turbo. Now I'm just thinking of what's next so I'm completely open to suggestions, but I  want to do it right..  (http://graemlins/upside.gif)

Hey Shaggy!  Leave your engine in place. Yes! I would change the waterpump at this time. When you reassemble also new timing belt any other belt.  Gus

Can the oil pan be removed ok? It looks like it can. I would like to check and clean inside...
