Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a Capri with Lambo doors? It should be possible, as far as I know. Is there any reason that a Capri shouldn't have Lambo doors?
-
Then it wouldn't be a Capri? duh?
-
I also want to do doors. I got some information from decah (the best door kit on the market) If we can get 10 people to pay 1G each, they will design to fit specifically to the Capri.
-
The Decah doors will flip either up or out like normal.
-
if and when i have a grand....aslong as that 1 grand gets me the doors... fitted and painted.. everything... i'd do it....
but... why stop at the doors... euro-style the way the hood opens, and get a new window-opening thing, like darqeyes's hydraulic system (http://smile.gif)
-
I know for ZX2s, the best way to do it is to just get a Civic kit, apparently it fits really well. It might be possible to do this with the Capri, also. Someone should do a little research.
-
I'd be in if there was a group buy!
-
I wonder what it would cost to put Lambo doors on the car? I think they would look good on a Capri.
Does anyone have a picture of a Capri w/doors?
Now this is not a general question.
I would like people to call someone in their area who does this stuff, and get a price, then let me know. I want to see if I can afford to do it for next years gathering.
Maybe then get a source who could do it in the area, and maybe have them put on a demonstration of how to do it, and if the process is not too involved, do a couple cars that day. For a price of course, but if we get costs, it would help us to negotiate a good price, and make it worth their while. Or for those intreped folks, maybe they can add the doors and just follow along with him with the body guy there to assist and teach.
Just some thoughts.
I would like to get prices as soon as possible. Not someones idea of what it might cost. Actual numbers.
-
are we just going to focus on scissor doors? yes, alternative doors MIGHT look good on our cars, but there are other alternatives...

No prob Yuri, if you can afford the other doors, then by all means lets discuss them.
I was trying to be serious for a moment. Very seriously thinking lambo doors, and am curious if anybody else has. Or has priced them.
-
Well I can say this - it really isnt a "one day" mod - usually stuff has to be cut/welded, your wiring has to be relocated/extended...
There are "universal" kits available, I wonder what it would take to install them
-
there's also a simple(r) modification, suicide doors. I left gullwings out of the list, no matter how good they look on a time machine, they just wont work on a capri
-
I'd go for the lambo doors - but I dont have the cash to do it. cheapest universal kit I saw was ~$900
-
I bought some hinges. DAMN ARE THEY HEAVY. I think they weigh more than the door. I will be taking it to a local body shop within a few days just to see if it can be done. there is not alot of room. And the hinge is large.

Eww weight = slow capri haha.
-
Well, the hinges are too large for the Capri. Soooo, I have a set of universal lambo door hinges for sale.
-
I kind of figured :(
-
not really universal then, are they
idea!!... suicide 'em bob... that'd look interesting
-
Any update on this? I've been designing my own hinges in CAD, but still have to run FEA's and find a shop to cut the metal...
-
Maybe a source for Capri Lambo doors:
http://www.xtreme-doors.com/ (http://www.xtreme-doors.com/)
They say they will make a custom design for any car in any quantity.
-
how is your cad work working? Have you got the design done yet?
-
I am friends with the owner of a shop that does lambo doors in my area and we are looking into doing lambo doors on my capri. I'll have to let you know what I find out from him when I go get my truck back (needed body work) and drop off my capri.

Welcome to the group!! You'll find the vast majority of the people here very helpful, and friendly! Any questions you may have, feel free to ask! I, for one, am interested in the progress of your 93 XR2 restoration!!
Couple of questions for you-how much did the engine from Jasper run you, and is it stock, or is it beefed up?
I would also be interested in the Lambo doors, as I am sure a couple other people on here would be. The Twin cities aren't all that far from me, and if the price was right........... (http://graemlins/devil.gif)
Also (just curious) how did you hear about TeamCapri??

the engine is just a stock Mazda engine from jasper. I will do a performance rebuild on it after the car is completely restored. other then that I am just going to do some light modding to make it as fast as it looks! I am not 100% sure how much the engine cost because my parents flipped the bill for me as my dad was the one who blew up the engine by driving it when it overheated on him! I think it was around $2k with getting it installed. sadly I didn't know about this site or I would have done it myself as I have with my mustang.
the company that I will be working with is called Never Satisfied Customs, my friend is the owner and has already done a few other jobs for my family. he will also be the one helping me with the headlight conversion kit that I am going to try and make.

I found out about the sites when I was looking on cardomain for some ideas on what to do with my Capri. I found robs (I think he is zxtuner) Capri and he had a reference to this site from his page.
keep an eye on my cardomain page as I will try to keep it up to date with the mods that I do and the whole restoration project!

Oh man, my third nipple just got hard hearing that there is a place within a couple hundred miles that will have some experience with Lambo doors, headlight modification and whatever else that my come down the pike. If these things come to fruition, I'll be keeping my toy.
-
well I think I am dropping off the Capri this week to have him go over it with me and start the restoration project. I am just waiting for him to finish my F150 that needed a little body work.
-
so after looking into it and the amount of modifications needed and the weight that will be added to install lambos I am going to put them on my 97' Tbird instead (show car so I don't car about the weight as I am riding 20"s). the capri would look good with them but it just doesn't work for this type of car.
things kinda came to a stop with modding the capri because I stepped up and took over my dad's 61' fairlane restoration as he has had this thing for 8+ years and he hadn't done a thing to it.

damn...there are several companies here in phoenix..i been wanting to do the same thing
