Trailing arms
« on: September 23, 2011, 12:51:00 PM »

I know someone told me this before, but I need to know what other year and make of car would have the same rear trailing arm as our Capri. I really need another one cuz the stupid bolt has rusted into the bushing and no matter how hard I try, I can't get the silly thing out! Only 1 strut left to do and it's killing me! LOL

Thanks, that's what I thought. Doesn't the Tracer of the same year use them too? Dorman makes the trailing arms? I'll have to Google that.

That's the part he's talking about right?  Or do you mean the adjustable part?

Those don't look the same, but it looks like they might work. I'm talking about the arm that bolts to the bottom of the strut and goes up and bolts to the frame in front of the rear tire. I'll post a pic if you need me to.

I was able to salvage one of the arms. Totally destroyed the bushing, but fabbed one up with an old sway bar link and bushings. Fits like a glove and no play at all.

Sooo, all 4 struts complete and Kanga II is ready for the streets!! FINALLY!

These are the middle arms that connect to the rear sway bar, upside-down.  AKA control arms.  I thought the front setup was part of the whole spindle.

Those are lateral links, not control arms or trailing arms

I've been told the early 90's Ford Escort GT uses the same trailing arm, but I cannot confirm that

Doesn't make the part any easier to get on the aftermarket.  Google a 1988 323 turbo VIN, then walk down to the mazda dealer.  Those guys are excellent at getting the oddball parts.  Even the factory 2 stage thermostat.

Only result I've found is a modified unit for "racing".

Does give more insight into the suspension design for parts cross-coverage though.
