If you look up a replacement alternator for a Capri, you get two Amp Sizes. 70 & 85.

With a stock, maunal transmission, N/A, I assume the 70 is the OEM size.

Is the 85 for the turbo? Is it for people with HUGE stereo systems?

Is there any pros or cons to getting the bigger size?

The 85 was used only on the early 91 model build capris, I think with a build date of 7/90 and earlier.

Later models all got the 70A

The alternators are not directly compatible, the electrical plugs & lower pivot bolts are totally different. Replace the alt with the correct one.

If you can't tell what you have - look at your alternator. If it has an external fan right behind the pulley, it's the Bosch 85A. The cage type with the internal fan is the 70A Mitsubishi unit

Checkers had them in stock in Phoenix, Both versions, I have changed several recently on them
