Wiring gremlins
« on: May 23, 2014, 05:34:38 PM »

As with any car of this age with multiple owners there are going to be wiring gremlins. I am usually pretty good with wiring but with this car I have no base. There are just cut wires laying here and there. There was no attempt to repair. They are just cut. And of course there are toggle switches everywhere that no longer go to anything.

Then in other areas I have plugs that arent plugged into anything. However, it does not look like they ever had anything to plug into. Probably an option that this car was not equiped with. The strange thing about this though is that someone had spliced into it to make something else work.

Where im going with this is that I need some help. If I could post pictures of these specific issues, would someone be able to either tell me what im looking at, or post a picture of the same area so I can compare. I have 10 at the most issues that I would like to resolve.

Go ahead & post what you have, I'll do my best to help out.

There weren't too many spare plugs on these cars for extra options - a few here & there - but nothing like my GM or some other Fords i've seen. There's a few under the hood, they're diagnostic/test connectors.

Post what you've got!

Ok, first things first. This is located under the steering wheel near the fuse box. There does not apear to be any place for it. Also, someone has taken a brown wire from it an spliced it for the fuse box light. Some if it also appears to run past the steering column, through the center console and onto the other side.

I think maybe some of this wiring was to an aftermarket car alarm. I cant be sure though.

Well, just about all other wiring issues led to this mess here, so thank you for the help.
