Title: New Capri Blog to check out
Post by: perrya on February 07, 2011, 10:32:00 AM
In Oct., I bought a Capri XR2 for $1500, and love it. The car has only 79K on it and I know its history since 91. I decided to create a Capri blog to help others and have been using the Capri service manual for problems and repair. if you do not have it, you MUST get it. My car did need new rotors and calipers, idle adjustment, but that is it. Parts have not been a problem yet.

Check out Capri blog at:

Glad you like it. It is all good info. The only thing I do to my Capri is drive it. I did recently buy a matching hardtop to save the soft one. This will make me seldom use the almost new soft top. In In the winter, the HT, in summer, no top.

The only thing I want is a 94 rear spoiler and maybe the console from a 94. Anyone selling one?

suggestions are welcome for the blog.

well, yes, but the two more important parts from a 94 are the tail-lights and and the 5 spoke wheels.

I'd rather keep my riken's and overspray ridden factory tail lights.  Those 94 lights look too much like the honda's, the normal lights fit the car's peculiar styling much better.

well, if one wants to restore to stock look, then one should stick with what was available in 94. For me, nothing improves the capri look more than the 5 spoke wheels are taillights from the 94.

one thing you should mention on your blog.  "Things to do with your Capri"  There are Capri Gatherings happening around the country, with the main national event the "Mid-America Capri Gathering" it is the largest gathering of Capri convertible enthusiasts in the world, and the second longest running. (Our brothers and sisters in Australia have been doing it for a couple years longer) This event is great to get ideas for modifications, and troubleshooting.

OK, thanks. the Capri remains a great car if it is taken care of. People complain if they buy one which was not maintained and then issues come up. I wonder how many sprints were actually made? When I restore cars, I always go for a return to stock.
