Battery Gauge
« on: August 15, 2011, 02:50:00 PM »

today i saw that when i turn on my headlights my battery gauge needle drops from 14v to 12v. and sometimes when i turn on my fog lights also. what can be the problem here?? Also i have my RMP needle at 1000 RPM and then sometimes it drops lower than 1000 RPM and stays at around halfway between 1 and 0. what can cause this?

It sounds like the alternator/voltage regulator broke.  Should be a fairly cheap fix, since good alternators for these cars run about $120.

Wanna be sure, take it to autozone or whoever and have them test the charging system.  I'm surprised the battery light doesn't come on.
