Post by: Fedaykin on October 24, 2004, 04:37:00 PM
Well its been about two weeks since i finally installed my new shocks and coilovers on her. body roll is drastically reduced and she sitting with approx 2 inch in back and 2.5 inch in front drop. the rides alot stiffer but i like it

It ended up costing about 550$ for everything. Ill get some pics soon

I'm actually thinking about doing something of the sort.  I just feel that my Capri is so loose going down the road, and I think the shocks and struts and springs might help.  But there's also the issued of body panels and such...but those, I have no idea how to go about getting assessed.

If you're trying to reduce body roll, the cheapest and best way to start is with new struts (I would keep the stock springs unless you know you want a drop, too) - after the struts, find a swaybar from any other Capri (the auto non-turbo's don't have them, but they DO have the mounts for it) then get a generic swaybar endlink kit from pepboys or autozone or something.  My body roll is almost non-existent now, to the point that my next upgrade is a harness, because now when you turn the wheel it doesn't roll, it just yaws over and goes.  The stock seatbelts aren't as good at keeping you with the car now that it corners so much better.

When I replaced the bent front sway bar (actually an anti-roll bar) on my N/A with the one off my Turbo parts car, I noticed the N/A was hollow and the Turbo was solid.  Quite the difference!  Boy are Ford end links expensive!  There are aftermarket ones!?!

Go to www.corksport.com (http://www.corksport.com) and look at parts for a 2wd 86-89 323.

Nice! sounds a little big though. Might take a while to spool it up..but once it does!

Oh thats okey about the spooling because I don't want the wheels to be spinning of the line anyways:) but once it hits the boots there better be OhShitHandle aroud to hold on to.

Think twice about the wheels spinning - I installed a VJ11 from a Ford Probe (bolts to the stock manifold) and once the boost hits in 1st and 2nd the  tires break free anyway. Your T3/T4 is much larger than the VJ11.

But either way, good luck with it, and I hope the torque doesnt twist your tranny in half (im afraid about chewing mine up)

I want videos of it in action!

Speaking of manifolds...what did you use to attach that garret? Did you just make up a flange or did you get a custom manifold of some sort made?

We did not make the manifold yet, but we are custom making. I will take pics and post, cant wait till next year for Ford Fun Weekend At Norwalk to spank some mustang boys and make them cry  (http://smile.gif)

Oh yes. Espcially when they see that they got smoked by a Festiva they will probably burn their car down. lol

Boosted, are you a member of 323performance? theres loads there aboot engine stuff for the B6t, and a guy with a festiva that he put the same turbo on. his engine is really built too, full standalone to boot.

I think my brother is member on 323 and FF. I just signed up here to see how everyone else is doing stuff to their capri's since we are going to be using almost everything from it  (http://smile.gif) . Capri was  a nice car but the roof on it was messed up and there was other problems so we just decided to do swap in festiva  (http://smile.gif)

We are trying to figure out spring rates for the GC coilovers..I emailed GC to ask them but they don't open for a couple more hrs..With the roll cage, motor/tranny swap, capri rear axle w/4whl discs, and psossibly roll bars, the expected weight will be around 1650-1700..We were thinking 225-250lb/in up front and 175 in back...Who has experience with custom rates on these cars?

Try asking on the 323 forums. I don't think anyone over here has a festy and since it weighs considerably less than a capri...
