Talking by posting to resolve problems is difficult if problems aren't precisely stated.  When you say that you had someone replace the motor mount and now the motor dies, did the motor die when the mechanics started the car after the mount replacement, or the last thing that was wrong with the car prior to this dieing issue was motor mounts?

My brakes started squeaking after a radiator issue, but they weren't exactly related...

Replacing mounts requires the motor to be moved around slightly, so this could cause an electrical ground issue if a wire was bumped, or a vacuum line could become disconnected, or a connector to a sensor disconnected or broken.

Since the Idle Air Control by name helps control the idle, you could start there...

Once it starts, put the pedal down.  If it dies when you hit the gas, it might be your Mass Airflow Sensor.  If it runs fine while the pedal is down, it's the idle air control valve.  Check wires FIRST though, because the IAC is a very expensive part.

I'm sorry about incomplete description, as a computer literate person i should have caught that before I hit 'post it'

the car was driven into the bay, motor mount replaced, tried to start to exit bay and problem.

the garage is closed till Tuesday, I may have it towed to the house so I can check things myself, but i can't until I get off work Tuesday.

I appreciate the quick responses here, Thanks alot, now I can try some of these things next week(end) I have about $350 - $420 to spend right Now. next extra money will not be till March.

again, Thank you very much.

I'll update this post when I get it figured out and fixed or need more to try.

It sounds like they broke or disconnected a vacuum line or intake hose. The car won't run unless everything's super tight with no leaks behind the VAF.

Check all the intake piping for leaks

Also check the pcv valve and connecting tubing.

I will never let anyone work on this car again...

Got my Capri here this evening. Tried starting it. Ran while holding gas pedal. Popped hood, found crack in hard hose / connector near MAF sensor. Covered hole, and tried it... It idled.
The air duct hose from MAF to Intake on engine has become a little brittle over time.
MAF was sending air volumn info to computer to compute gas to injectors and then more air was getting in later, causing improper fuel / air mixture.

Looking forwrd to checking out more Saturday afternoon.
I thank everyone again for giving me an idea of where to start.

Thank you for the update, it's valuable to the community to post resolution to the problem.

Glad it was a simple fix (so far)

This is a very common issue where mechanics replace an unrelated component & disturb the very sensitive vacuum system.
