Title: RPM's too high?
Post by: squaretwo on September 01, 2009, 04:39:00 PM
I had my auto trans from my 91 N/A Capri swapped out for a manual trans last week, and I was wondering: what RPM's are you running in 5th gear to maintain 55mph? I'm running 3k and I'm thinking thats too high. Is it?

That actually sounds about right. Turbo tranny's run around 3k at 60mph and 4k at 80mph

Props on pulling off the swap too! BTW, you should be able to research the f-type and find a better 5th gear ratio that will pull the RPMs down. There is an 'upgrade' for the turbo's gtype byt you'll need to look up the ftype

Hey Squaretwo! The n/a manual trans runs higher R's than the turbo trans. Also your auto would have been spinning lesser R's than what you're spinning now also.  Gus

Thanks for the replies, I was trying to see if there was anything wrong with the swap; thankfully there isnt lol. Btw, are the PCMs any different in the auto and manual na capris? Thanks  (http://smile.gif)
