Service Manual Part 03-06 Starter
« on: March 24, 2007, 08:13:00 AM »

Does anyone know where to find the Part 03-06 Service Manual on-line? On Tech Capri it jumps from 03-05 to 03-07.

Also, I'm trying to locate the starter - this is ridiculious - never haven't had one difficult to find unless on the bottom?

Thanks,
Ben

its directly under the intake manifold , on the driverside, mounted to the manifold support bracket and bolted into the bellhousing of the transmission

Thanks Rocketman!

After posting, I went back and stuck my head down behind the engine and saw the round casing. Now the next key question: Do you have to remove the manifold to take it out - Surely not?

Most typical starters are only two bolts and not too big of a deal to swap - I just did one on a '91 Camry and it wasn't much too it.

It would be nice to see a drawing since most of the work will have to be done by feel unless I have to take off the manifold. (ugh - 3+ hours to do 45 minutes).

Does anyone have a drawing or the
Capri_SM_------_S03-06.pdf that is referenced as information on the starter? TechCapri.com jumps from S03-05 to S03-07. Don't know why.

http://fordcds.com/

^^download a service manual CD. It has all the info you need.

IIRC its 4 bolts - two on the transmission side, and two on the back.

I'm fairly sure you can pull it out without removing the manifold.

just completed starter removal and replacement, loosen inside bolt, lower backside, then the two top ones closer to the battery, the bracket is a pain, about 6 bolts to take that off.  My starter or solenoid just went out, one morning it just didn't want to start.
