Title: Voltage regulator exchange 85AMP Bosch with built-in alternator
Post by: GermanXR2 on August 13, 2022, 05:14:41 PM
My alternator is weak, the control lamp comes sometime up. I got a regulator and now the question arises "how to replace"...

Is it possible to exchange the voltage regulator with built in alternator? From below?

Generally the whole alternator is replaced with a new or rebuilt unit

It is not common on "modern" alternators to replace just the regulator so I suspect you'll be on your own with that one
It may be worthwhile to find a rebuild shop and bring them your parts

But either way you will have to remove the alternator from the vehicle to service it. Pull it out the top, move the idle valve out of the way to pull it

A problem I had was the local shop tried replacing the voltage regulator in my alternator several times, kept getting bad chinese parts and they gave up and returned it to me unfixed.  I was trying to avoid buying a new one with the possible 'pulley the wrong size' issue...
