That's the right location, but you need to remove the entire speedometer gear to refill the fluid. There is a 10mm bolt that you need to be remove, just be careful not to break the tab that it goes thru.

It will come with ATF from the factory, regardless if it is an automatic or not. If you have a manual transmission, consider draining all of it and putting proper gear oil back in.

Yes, it's trans fluid that came out when you removed the axle.

Automatic Transmission:  7.2 quarts.  In the techcapri shop manual on page 17-27-99 (bottom of page).

Manual Transmission: 3.4 quarts.   In the techcapri shop manual on page 16-38-67.

This is a very complicated case (car), a lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-yous.

So i got that 10mm bolt out but it seems still tight. It should just come up/out right or do need special procedure taking it out.

You may have to screw the cable back onto it & use that to wiggle/pull the assembly out. If they haven't ever been out they can be fairly stuck. It's a tight fit, with only an o-ring to seal it. DO NOT PRY ON THE TAB

A word of caution - when you re-install it, MAKE SURE IT IS SEATED FLAT! That tab is very prone to breaking off, and tightening down the bolt when it's not seated all the way will snap it right off. If this happens you can make an improvised bracket to hold the assembly down, it doesn't see a lot of force.

Ok, finally came around and got it flush and refilled.  Dang it! Now, I can't find the 10mm bolt.  would you know what the thread size is so I can get replacement?
