I noticed a small toggle switch under the glove compartment on the passenger door side. I bought the capri owners manual on ebay to find out what it was, but no luck. Can anyone tell me what it does?
I have a 91 Australian capri XR2. Current thoughts from others think its either an ignition cutoff switch to prevent theft, or an old alarm switch left after the alarm was removed.

humm thats pizzling does look like it was factory or something someone put on i know i been all up under my on that side fixing the heat and stuff and have not see anything like that i have a 91xr2 ?

I agree! In all of the 20+ Capris I've owned, I don't ever recall a toggle switch. Perhaps it's part of an alarm system? A fuel cutoff?
Could you post pictures of the switch?

Well that explains why the switch wasn't mentioned in the manual I bought. I will check to see if the engine cuts off when I flip the switch, and that probably will confirm if its an old left over alarm switch or not. In any case I think it's solved. Thanks a bunch. One less thing to obsess over. (http://graemlins/big-smile.gif)

Glad we can be of service!
Hate to hijack the thread, but, Gus, did you still need the door panel? I just picked up a 94 with a good P-side!

Hey Russ! I was getting ready to comment on a nice find. It would be a shame to tear her apart if she's good. Yes I'm still in need of a panel but I need to get back with you later on that as I have other things brewing. Gus
