the problem with a mx3 motor is the head... if you were rebuilding say... a tossed rod you could use the block, but how would you wire the distributor? it runs off the opposite side camshaft, things like valvecovers couldnt be used ...
it would be cool, but it sounded like alot of parts chasin if you ask me. so i bought the above ....Joe

Hey RCI!  I bought a full motor from these same guys about 11/2yrs ago. You've brought up some interesting thoughts in your build up. One thing  you brought up that I wasn't aware of is the squirters, I always thought they were only in turbo motors. I've only had turbo motors torn down, no N/As. Also those short blocks, are they the 9.4 or 9.0s. I had asked those guys back then and they had no answers.  Gus

i want to say 9.4 (but i want it to be 9.4)
so its prolly 9.0, i dunno.

Does anyone know what the compression ratio is
on a 91 n/a capri???

I had 30 thousandths taken off the head too. but then i used a cometic gasket. so i really dont know what my compression is..LOL

hey gus , would you recommend theese guys?
i know i was extremely happy with the product ...
the 150 bucks shipping kinda sucks. (ive shipped longblocks for 90.00, b6t for the festiva actually) but the motor was exactly what was advertised...

Hey RCI! Absolutely I would recommend them. I think it was stated earlier in one your story lines, Automatic N/A is higher compression than 5 speed. Also there is a cam difference on exhaust I believe. If you shaved 30 thousands off the head you've increased the compression a considerable amount, maybe half point. The factory doesn't recommend more than 7 or 8 thousands, probably because of cam timing. Gus

Gus,

The Automatic N/A is the lower compression of the two high compression pistons. They're 9.0:1.

The 5spd had a bit higher CR at 9.4:1

I cant tell exactly, the pistons in that picture look like the 9.0's. If you measure the dish I'll be able to tell you.

the cams, head, distributor, and everything else not shortblock is b6t. and i lied earlier, i had 50k shaved off (looked at the reciept)
but then i used a cometic mls headgasket so that had to bring the compression back down a bit ..
im gonna go with what i first thought i had
 9.2-1 call it good....Joe
