My car sounds like a Ninja motorcycle!

Hey everyone,
  I just recently changed my air intake to one of the open cone one's, And well the car sound great till it hits ruffly around 5500 rpm's(Auto) then after that it sounds really ummm nasty like a Ninja motorcycle! I am going to have the exhaust redone from the cat back with a new muffin also to see if that makes it sound happier, has anyone else noticed the sound and if so is it curable?

Havent noticed that problem, but then I had my exhaust changed before my intake.
