Ok can confirm you can get the oil pan off from underneath, although I'm not sure it is easier than pulling the engine.
remove all oil pan bolts
remove lower motor mounts, I have the top passenger one already off from head/timing belt removal
jacked up engine/trans with board under the trans until the lower motor mount bolts pass the brace they run through
drop exhaust
From here the pan comes right off
