Fog lights
« on: June 05, 2022, 07:04:28 PM »

I finally decided to look into my fog light problem and I replaced the relay, but there appears to be a short because the fuse keeps popping when I turn them on.  A friend crawled under for a look and told me the wiring looks all right on the driver side, but the wires are right up against the inner cooler on the passenger side, so he is suspecting the heat might have melted the insulation resulting in a short.  We are going to look at it tomorrow with the car up on ramps, but I wanted to ask if this is a common problem.  He also mentioned that there was some electrical tape around the wires, which may suggest that it has been repaired before.

Following up on my original post, it looks like the wiring is fine, but there is a short in the bulb on the passenger.  I ordered two new bulbs.

I have one working now, but the other needs a new socket.  Does anyone know if they are even still available?
