Why not get some 17s with 205/40/17 tires

Perfect fit for lowered car & plenty wide enough

This car was not lowered....

I think you might have clearance in the rear strut tower if you go with a bigger tire

Couple of shots of 2  lowered Capris, wearing 205/40/17 tires:

Largest tire you can run on these cars without rubbing (both of mine above are running 1/4" spacers in the rear). No rolling required!

What, which, whose springs are you running on those cars?

Nice!

I believe they are H&R. Not sure even if another company still makes them for our cars.

The blue 94 is running a set of Ground Control coilovers.

The rear has spacers, and a notched spring perch for the wheel

Thanks.  Any idea what rate and height the kits's springs springs are?

The H&R springs don't look low like that to my eyes.  But I'm not sure I've seen them with 17s.

Everything I seen about them just say its a 1.5 in drop & this sales pitch.

Sport Spring kits are H&R’s number one selling product. Enhance the look of your vehicle with a reduced fender well gap. H&R Sport Springs lower the vehicle center of gravity and reduce body roll for better handling. The progressive spring rate design provides superb ride quality and comfort. A lower wind resistance signature will make the vehicle more streamlined and improve gas mileage. If you are only looking to improve one part of your vehicle’s suspension, you cannot go wrong with installing Sport Springs. Fun to drive, H&R Sport Springs are the number one upgrade for your vehicle.

I think mine said 1.25-1.5" drop, I noticed about 1.25" They do make a noticeable difference.

I think they are a little soft as far as spring rates go

The Ground control kits use adjustable sleeves, I don't know the spring rates. You can run them at pretty much whatever height you want.

I am working on a custom rear coilover suspension for my Grand Prix to delete the stock monoleaf, the parts are not expensive to build a kit yourself.

The struts are pretty standard diameter so threaded sleeves are avaialable, I think the important thing is grinding the spring perch off and installing a proper length spring. The GC runs sleeves atop the existing perch, the front springs end up being under 8" IIRC

I ran a $60 set of Civic coilovers on my Capri for a while. Way too stiff, was a backbreaking ride. The spring size was "too tall" and thus even at the lowest adjustment on the sleeve, I was at stock ride height. No lowering was possible without getting a shorter spring
