I have one but it has somewhat high miles, it works great except a small grind during a high rpm 1-2 shift. PM me if you're interested in it.

You will need to source a transmission from another XR2 or 88/89 Mazda 323 GT (fwd turbo) but those are extremely rare, less than 800 were imported to north america. Nothing else will bolt in correctly. You might be able to use internals from another transmission but that all depends on what's shot in yours - what's wrong with it?

Sounds like your clutch cable needs adjusting, or it might be stretched. Does not sound like an actual transmission issue. Have you tried adjusting it? What kind of shape is your clutch in?

Finding a 323 GT in a junkyard, or parts from one, is next to impossible. There were 10x or 15x as many XR2 made. Finding an XR2 transmission is not all that hard

You can order parts for the XR2 transmission, it's a Mazda Gtype and was used in many, many Mazdas/Fords/Kias with varying differences. I mentioned the 323 GT because it's the only other transmission that's identical and direct fit.

If your gears are shot, you'll need to order them from Mazda, they are over $100/set

Rebuild kit is Pro King # BK210AWS - $235 at Advanced Auto may be cheaper elsewhere

Is this a manual transmission specialist, or just a mechanic? I would have the transmission rebuilt at a specialist, there are a lot of fine preload adjustments that need to be made on re-assembly. I've seen several people with rebuilt transmissions that have failed very shortly after rebuild. A good trans shop will be able to source a rebuild kit no problem

The trans case is much different though - it does not use the same mounts, and the bellhousing tilts the engine forward in the Capri. It will fit the capri, however it's a rather involved conversion. No where near a bolt-in deal

In Piojo's instance, the internals would work however the final drive is higher (4.11 vs the capri 3.85) and the other gear ratios are slightly different as well
