Title: Exhaust leak at catalytic converter
Post by: mr_gr1mm on May 16, 2022, 11:15:31 AM
Hey guys, so my 1.6L Capri has an exhaust leak where the catalytic converter meets the downpipe. I believe the cat converter is still good, but not sure how to deal with the fume leak. Is there a simple gasket I can replace to stop the leak?

I also need to replace the entire exhaust pipe beyond the catalytic converter. I'm wondering if most any aftermarket piping can be installed or it is specific to the 91 Capri - also not sure if I can go with something wider? Or is that traditionally done at the exhaust tip only?

Thanks and sorry for all the dumb questions!

You should be able to find the gasket for purchase at the autoparts store or Rockauto

I'm not sure if there are any replacement bolt-on pipe available, you may have to consult with a local exhaust shop and have something made up.
Yes you can go bigger on the pipe if you need to
