Title: Metal box under the distributor
Post by: Kiwimagic on April 28, 2021, 12:39:27 AM
Im just enlarging the air intake between the MAF and the Turbo.
There are two pipes that connect to this. One is the pipe that comes from the Blow off valve.
All good understand what and why that is there.
But the other small one which comes from the box under the distributor is one i'm not sure about.
What is its function.
From what a can see is that it has something to do with crank case ventilation.
Is the small dia pipe that connects to the intake pipe some sort of venturi which sucks air out of the crankcase and puts it back into the system.
Looking at the original plastic pipe where the attachment point extends into the inlet pipe with a angled end. I assume that the inlet air moves past that extension and by venturi sucks the built up crank case gases back into the system. If that is the case the angle on the end of that extension is on the wrong side. It faces the flow of air coming from the MAF. For a venturi to work it should be on the down flow side.
Have I got it all wrong and should it be like thhttps://www.facebook.com/messenger_media/?thread_id=705071760&attachment_id=4258771637500807&message_id=mid.%24cAAAAACoGipB_SGAM1V5Fxq9HH2IHat.

Can you post a picture? Your facebook link doesn't work.

I can't think of a vent box under the distributor, perhaps the US model did not come equipped with one?

I just saw a picture of a USA Mercury Capri engine bay.
From the picture it shows the 12mm dia pipe that comes from the air inlet between the MAF and the inlet manifold connects to the end of the Rocker cover. Not too a black box under the distributor.
