Title: The two cams & no compression
Post by: CapriProject on July 01, 2010, 04:06:00 PM
I'm going to check the lower timimg gear to see if it was installed wrong or if the key way is screwed-up. But because the previous owner installed a 'new' short block I was wondering if 'by chance' he swapped the cams in the head.
Are they marked which one goes wich side? Can they accidently be switched?
Non of the cylinders have compression so it's most likely some valves are being opened at the wrong time. Right?

Personally, I would inspect / remove the lower pulleys and timing cog to ensure they are the correct pulleys for the crankshaft. If they are incorrect you could be causing damage by cranking the motor more. Inspect that keyway.

It sounds like both cams are out of time with the crankshaft.

My car had the exhaust valves burnt out of it.  I had to have the head rebuilt.

Also, the Cam's are marked, on both the cams and the gear.  E and I (exhaust and intake)
