It is much more rewarding to be able to hop-up a car that has no aftermarket, than to buy parts off the shelf that everyone else and their brother already have bolted on to their cars.
If you go the Honda route, good luck, keep us updated on the Capri, and I personally invite you to Chicago for a race when your Honda is done. I'd love to hand you your ass!!

Hondas are easier to work on cause they sell parts for them not like capris

You are correct. But my point was why do something everyone else is doing? If you can build a car that is just as fast as someone else's, but you had to be a bit more creative to do it, who comes out ahead? Who gets more "wow" points? It isn't difficult to whip out a checkbook and build a car. It is more rewarding to plan your build, and do it in a creative way. As there is almost nothing available for the Capri, we need to adapt and innovate. Check out Rocketman's GTXR2-the only 1.8 AWD Capri in the world! Check out RCICustoms XR2- probably one of the fastest Capris in the country (world?). Check out my "Super-Roo" (link below) - it is what it is.
If you want to build up your Capri, cool! Stick around, ask questions, and don't be afraid to try new things. If you want to sell your car and get a Honda, cool!  Good luck!

it takes a lot more money to make a honda fast compaired to one of these...

everyone has them....they sound like fart cans...

this is a good fun car to mod and build up..everyone will ask you what it is. everyone is amazed when i show them the engine. i have had several honda guys want to play...get dusted then say...Oh you got a turbo....its fast...then go into their wet dream of the turbo H22 swap they want to do...

keep it and stick around, you will be so happy with the end product!

for about 750 bucks you can be pushing out 14lbs of boost and almost 200hp...thats double factory boost and 70 more hp...dump that into a honda and it would be no where near your capri

well does anyone know where i could get a hardtop shipped to Washington cause it rains a lot and behind my seats it water on the carpet so where can i get a hard top cause i drive this every day mostly in the rain

Keep an eye on eBay, and you can also check with the Yahoo group.  Expect to pay top dollar this time of year, around 400-800, depending on condition.
Both windows in your door are adjustable, to help prevent leaks.  Where is the water getting in from? You could have a bad weatherstrip seal across the windshield (check for cracks or tears), or your 1/4 window may need to adjusted (the triangle window in the door). If you can not find the leak up front, check the weatherstrip on the soft-top cover.

my passenger door needs it. it sits too high with my hardtop on..


i got my hardtop off craigslist for 200, just got to search for them and maybe make a road trip to get it. there have been several that pop up here in phoenix for about 400 or so.

Allright, what the hell................

remove your door panels, and you'll see 2 oval washer looking things with a slotted screw in the middle. By turning the slotted screw, you can move the window in or out.
I'll check the manual and see if I can find the exact directions, as opposed to my highly technical description!

it the weather striping on the soft top its all cracked and missing chunks that where it leaks from what should i do

im still baffled to the fact that it has a full cage, and racing seats, and actual drag harnesses and a stock engine???

wow, id definately keep it, and make it stupid fast...

as for modding a honda... ive built several cars, including civics, accords, nissan 240sxs, and the ocasional toyota supra with single turbo conversions and for the money and the originality you cant beat one of theese little pocket rockets....(no pun intended matt)...

you will hand out the ass stompins then afterwards be asked what the hell kind of car it is....
for less than 3k you can stomp on new gt mustangs...
to do so with a civic is going to cost you almost double that, and alot more dickin arround....
the biggest reason, is the fact that there already turbo. a honda was never designed for a turbo to be bolted to it ... the fuel system and the timing and the computer all have to be upgraded to turbo a honda... but the dist. injectors, computer and engine in a capri xr2 are already made for turbo. hell you already have a turbo to start...  
id say just about the only thing more suited for mild upgrades to be made fast, would be an eclipse/talon/laser turbo or like a conquest tsi or vr4 galant,
turbo cars are built for turbo from the manufacturer... keep that in mind the next time a civic enters your mind....
