Title: Mazda miata wheels
Post by: grembrant on March 14, 2006, 02:19:00 AM
Hi, does anyone know if a mazda miata wheel will fit a capri. The hole pattern looks the same, plus they are a realy nice looking wheel. Thanks, Glenn Lewis

nope - the miata has a 4 bolt wheel pattern, but has 100mm spacing between the bolt holes, where the capri is 114.3 (4.5") between the bolt holes.

factory takeoff wheels to look for would be 80's mazda 323, 626, or rx7, many hyundais and mitsubishis, and the biggie... 80's to 90's 4cyl honda accord.

be careful of the wheel offset though, the capri has precious little room between the tire and the rear strut. 45mm-50mm offset wheels will almost always cause the tire to hit the strut

40-42mm offset rims will work with some sizes (185 and 195)

35-38mm offset rims are safest and can accept up to 205 tires.

since it's related, tire selection needs to be done with the height consideration as well. 24" tall tires will rub the rear strut spring perch, so here's a list of acceptable tires if the above wheel advice is also taken into consideration:

185/65-14
195/60-14
185/60-15
195/50-15
195/55-15
205/45-15
205/50-15
205/40-16
205/45-16
205/40/17
