convertible top repair

small tear in the soft top.  any "non-duct tape" suggestions for repair?

I've bought a piece of canvas an smear black liquid rubber on it an put it on from underneath. When dry stays for ever, did a whole rear window section on my 93 that way {it work} Rocketman seen that. John
