Anyone have info/experience with this performance Mod?
« on: November 08, 2013, 10:08:35 AM »

Hello All,
I was looking on Ebay for anything Capri related and saw this device. It claims to work on all Capris (Turbo or not).

Has anyone had experience with this device? What was the outcome?

PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY CHIP FOR MERCURY - GAIN MPG

Thank you,

It's not a "chip" or anything remotely close. It's an 8¢ resistor hidden in a box that installs in line or in place of the intake temp sensor. This makes the engine think it's getting cold air (all the time!) and adds extra fuel, which does not equate to more power. (Certainly not MPG either)

It's one of these things:

They come in just about any resistance value you could think of. If you wanted to try this mod at least go this route and don't support someone perpetuating a scam. (look how much negative feedback he has!)

But IMHO it's just ridiculously silly to try to fool the ECU in this manner

Rocket,
I whole heartedly agree!!!

I was just investigating. You never know. 99% of the time anything that sounds too good to be true isn't.

There's always the 1%.

Have a great W.E.
Thank you,

Although one of those did fool my Frontier ECU by using it on the knock sensor...it cleared the mil light.
