what does a breather filter do? i saw some pics of capri's having it installed. is it worth it?

Guessing that you are talking about these....
 

It is used to keep the oil from going back into the intake. You can use the filter or a catch can. Catch cans will collect the oil as a filter alone can be messy depending on how much oil is getting pushed out. Either way it keeps your intake cleaner.

Cap it or use a catch can.
