All about how you market it...I made plenty form EBAY, Craigslist & here. I even got a bunch of side work on several Capri's here in AZ. Swapped out 3 Engines on these things so far. Can have it out & back in running all in a days work now. If I stumble on a 94 again cheap. I plan on getting back into the Capri world & follow russ with the XR2 swap or get crazy and attempt the FwD SR20DET swap

The other car is not technically running.  It was rear-ended and I believe the fuel cutoff was tripped, hopefully that was all it needed.

Main problem is that the guy never gave me an address, and he was asking way too much after he already got his money for totalling it.  So I probably won't be able to get the car, and he has no idea how hard it is to work with new york salvage titles.

EDIT:  Just snagged a probe intercooler today, does it just bolt up or do I have to cut tabs off or something?

NY Salvage title for a parts car? you don't need to transfer a title to buy a parts car. Technically you don't even need a title, but it's a little harder to scrap the chassis afterwards - most scrap yards want titles with the chassis. But it doesn't matter which state it came from

The probe IC is not much of an upgrade, I've only seen GTX guys install them, they have the same IC but mounted vertical. So not sure how it would fit on the capri

Well what happened was that he's asking over $1000 for the car, even though it's only worth as much as someone wants it as a parts car.  You'd have trouble trying to register it, NY Salvage is a pain to work with.

I haven't taken my car apart yet to see how the intercooler fits in, but for the price I thought I'd give it a shot.  It's definitely thicker then the factory unit is, but it took me almost 1 1/2 hours to remove it off the probe, since I couldn't reach the bolts without removing all 20 bumper cover bolts, then removing the actual bumper.

Odds of a stock intercooler off a car that old being worth using are slim. Oil build up in there would be a lot. For just over $200 bucks you can get the intercooler, pipes, BOV, couplers & clamps shipped.

Do it once right & be done with it.

Believe it or not the unit was fairly clean, few pockets of oil, but for $10 for the unit I can figure something out to clean it and get it usable.

Also, $100 is a bit much, I can get a good intercooler for $50, and pipes for less than $50 easily.  Rock carries a few pipes, for about $5 a foot.

Still won't beat this price..Your at 150 & no BOV, Clamps or couplers. This is $187 Shipped. Just need to get the bungs made for the idle control valve & boost source. then weld on the flange for the BOV. I ran this kit and a few others as well. Won't beat it for NEW parts. It is a greddy flanged BOV so u can always get a nice one later on.

if you want to scrap a veh. without a title you can do it if you cut the frame in half.

i run the same exact IC kit and for the price i LOVE IT !!!

I'm more focused on getting the car running right now, I grabbed the intercooler because I finally managed to have the tools to grab one, and the luck to find one.

I got the intake side done today, just need to get the exhaust and fluids drained.  I noticed after I removed the timing cover that my gears wear into the timing cover, and the belt is sitting a bit towards the inside.  My gears also have 6 spokes, rather then the 6 holes shown in the FSM.

I know the engine was swapped in my car, but this makes no sense to me what the engine is actually from being a turbo engine and all.

The 323 got the gears with the holes. The capri had the spoked gears (both turbo and nonturbo), im sure they recycled illustrations from the 323 though.

How do you know it has been swapped?

And Jamie's right though. The eBay kits far outperform most any OEM intercooler, and they're pretty easy to install. The probe intercoolers suffer from heat soak just as bad as ours do. Did you grab the probe's turbo while you were there? that's a much better upgrade than the I/C.

The probe turbo looked smaller then what I have already.  I was wondering about the cam gears, because the person I bought the car from had replaced the engine at 160,000k with a junkyard engine he claimed was from a mazda, with 95,000 on it's clock.

The cam gears though is pretty funny, I bought a contitech timing kit, with the belt, tensioner, and idler, and every illustration EXCEPT the capri showed my cam gears.  I just thought that was odd.

Is it supposed to wear into the cover though, or is something not aligned correctly?

The covers usually warp over time and get eaten into.

The previous owner could have swapped the cam gears or the head... But there weren't many Mazdas with the B6T that would have ended up in the junkyard. Did he say what it came out of?

Have you read any of the turbo babble here? The probe turbo is the VJ11. It's used to make the hybrid which flows ~33% more than the stock turbo, it makes a big difference in performance. The compressor housings are almost identical in size externally (stock VJ14 vs VJ11)
