if you really want a turbo then sell yours and get an XR2.... thats the best option. by the time you buy everything you need you could of found a good deal on a new one.

there is someone using a NA engine on here and i am sure he will be here soon to post..LOL

it can be done for sure...but at the cost you want? thats the question

Hey Benno! It's a lot easier to get a turbo capri. The change-overs are tremendous and probably way more costly unless you have a crunched available and the crunch is in the rear. Hey Gost! You're gonna go through a learning experience like my-self. In Australia XR2s don't signify turbo cars. I'm still having problems with that.  Gus

yea im that guy and im posting...LOL

i built a high compression b6t with a b6 na shortblock but everything else i used was b6t.. including cams, head ,electronics, and turbo ect...it makes a fast b6t but without everything else from a b6t it would be pricy to build

find an xr2 turbo or 323gt gtx ,with a blown motor and swap your block and mate all the other parts to it.. thats what i would do. but i have space and lots of tools. so i do things a bit faster than some...i dunno look at what the miata guys are doing...i did ...joe

I am purchasing a 1991 Capri n/t and wanted to make it turbo. So from this thread it seems I will basically use just my block and all the other parts off of an xr2 or 323 gt/gtx, but what about the tranny, does that need to be changed as well or can you use the non turbo from the b6? I would appreciate any help as I'm sure others here know it is pretty hard to find info on these capri's. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you guys. Also if you know any other engine that can be fit into here please let me know, because I have seen a few capri's with 1.8l turbo motors in them, and I can't figure out what it came from.

trannies are different as well...

all the time and money to make it an XR2 you can buy one..just find an XR2 unless you are getting the NA for free

You can use the stock B6 tranny but you get stuck with a small clutch and they dont take abuse very well.

It is *easier* to get an XR2... or find an XR2 parts car to source all the parts from. You definately want the turbo tranny and clutch, and most of the rest of it goes along with it. You can use your block but gotta watch how much boost you run, the pistons are higher compression.

The BPT 1.8 turbo was only available in Japan...its about $2000 from an importer. Its a really tight fit and I wouldnt dare mate it to a B6 tranny. The tranny that it comes with is for AWD and generally useless to most of us.

The BP05 is the nonturbo version of that engine, its available in the states in many mazdas and the Ford Escort GT. Its a pretty solid motor making good power in n/a form and would really make a Capri haul without needing boost. Still just as hard to squeeze in though.

i still think an SR20DET in this thing would be sweet.

the silver top from the Nissan Avenir is a FWD and mounted the same direction. i think it could fit easy and your looking at 206HP stock at 7PSI. there is a ton of aftermarket stuff and getting it up to 250-300 is easy.

plus no one has done it!

Got any measurements? The BP is a small engine and it wont even fit without pretty extensive modifications to the framerail to give it clearance

how tough to make our RWD?

the GT-R is a tiny car. smaller then the 323 i think and it holds the SR20DET. i am sure it would fit. a friend of mine has a SR20 sitting around that he is gonna put in the 240sx i could get a measurement from that

the engine has been installed in a lot of cars. FWD AWD and RWD so there are several options available

Very, very tough to make RWD

would more or less need an entire donor car be it an RX7 or Miata or whatever
