on my 1991 capri non-turbo 1.6 how do you know if the ecm is bad? what happens and can it be repaired or where can i buy another if it is bad. thanks for your time, kevin c.

Couple things can be the symptoms of a bad ECM. I'll let Matt get into more specifics (he's our local computer expert).
As far as a new one, email me - I have several available.

Hi Russ. Thanks for replying. I live in Cary. I'm still not sure what's going on with my car, but soon as I get a better idea I will let you know. Do you have any ideas from my other post what could be wrong? Thanks Kevin.

You're a hop, skip, and a jump away.  You don't happen to live/work near Thorntons, do you?  A friend of mine just "Tagged" a Capri this week next to Thorntons.
Anyway, if it'll help, I can "lend" you a ECM. If that takes care of the problem, then you know what it is, and what you need to fix it.
If that doesn't fix it, we'll go to plan B. I can always come down and take a look, but be warned - I am no mechanic!!  I will be on the phone with Matt the whole time.............
