Title: Aftermarket Suspension Question

I have a question that I need help on. We all know that when lower and stiffer springs are installed, ride quality is compromised. My assumption is that if you add lower profile tires to the equation, then the smallest bump will make you feel like your car is going to fall apart [I am running 45 series tires on 16 in. rims].

Question:
Will going back to a 15 in. rim and increasing the profile of the tire to say 55 do anything to alleviate the rough ride problem? I know it won't completely eliminate it, but it seems logical that more rubber means more insulation. Let me know.

The more rubber means more air in the tire area to provide cushining.  So running smaller rims with the largest diameter tires possible without effect your speedometer will give you the better comfort level.

That's what I figured. I think I'm going back to the OEM springs though. This is the most cost effective solution as opposed to buying new rims and tires.

Sorry dude. Yes I am running 205/45/16 tires. I just came back from the shop and raised the XR2 back to factory height. To close the gap between the fenders and the tires, I might go up to a 50 or 55 series tire. I know the ride will be nice. Not sure yet, but for now I have my sanity back while driving.

I couldn't take the ride. As long as the roads were flat then it was great, but the minute the slightest change came up, it felt like the care was going to fall apart. To me, it just wasn't worth it.

Got a question for anyone that can answer. How similar is the suspension of the Capri to the 89 323? Corksport has some nice suspension packages available and I was curious if they would fit the Capri.

very much the same, the 323 LX version should be the closest fit since it uses 4 strut 4 disc brake system. But with any performance suspension system its still will ride rough.
