im a used car salesman, i know what a clutch is supposed to feel like, but i have had a few ppl tell me that the clutch grabs more so at the top then when you start to let off. Im wondering if thats true? I really dont think so, but you never know

Its a cable clutch, the adjustment is on the trans. Sounds like the nut needs tightened.

Is it an N/A? The n/a is hydraulic and 'self adjusting'

Ah okay yes. There is an adjustment on the fork on the front top of the transmission.

I have a similar problem. When i bought my 93 xr2 the adjustment was maxed out tightened plus a zip tie to get an extra half inch, so i replaced the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. But when i put it all back together there is still a bunch of slack in the cable and it wont work right until I max it out tightened again. This isn't  normal is it? Most of the slack is from between the throwout and pressure plate. The clutch pedal is pretty soft all the way to the floor so is the pedal out of wack? Thanks for any info!

Your cable might be stretched. Not a bad idea to replace it.

Did you have the flywheel surfaced? Did it look excessively machined?

really? i never thought of that. If anyone has a clutch cable for sale i'd love to buy it off ya? No the flywheel hasn't been resurfaced but its in great condition, looks new but i doubt it is. I made sure the flywheel and clutch was super clean when i put them back in so i doubt its slipping either. But i'll try the cable! Thanks!
