Thanks, Jack Byrd

Can't get it anywhere but online. And is it overly expensive. Near $400.

It was that price back when the dealership still had them.

Best best is a aftermarket replacement or pull one from a scrapyard.

As for the afternarket I dont know much about that. So wait until someone who does replies.

Thanks for the link, that's exactly how my gauge is not working.... :D  Interesting that the link didn't come up when I did a search, I only got one and that wasn't it....lol  It may be cheaper and more satisfying to create a complete custom dash, my fuel gauge doesn't work either.

Thanks, Jack

Yeah, the terms in that thread might have not been too search friendly, hah. Just the way things work out sometime.

lets see, for future reference:

Mercury Capri Oil Pressure Gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge Not Working
Oil Pressure Gauge
Bad Oil Pressure
Sending Unit
Oil Pressure Sensor
Oil Pressure Sending Unit
OPSU

And I'll link to this thread again for anyone finding this post needing to fix their oil pressure guage in their Mercury Capri: http://teamcapri.com/forum/index.php/topic,2876.0.html

FWIW   One of guys, on this site ( former Navistar Mech) Capri owner found a truck OPSU that worked on his car.  I called Navistar with that number and was called back with a new # 1340777 yesterday.  The description, OD sounded great  <> 1 1/2" in dia., male thded  stud for elec contact.  I couldn't get thd type to block verified. He has 15 units @ <> $45 each.  The contact is 1 505 243 7883 Todd at Roberts trucking (Navistar)  ABQ , NM. This location is 90 miles from me so I couldn't do  a "hands on" visual for part yet  I just took of oil filter on mine and feel sure it would fit except  thd in block

I just cleaned all elec contacts, wire brushed paint from chassis, fine steel wool brushed grounding cable ends  including OPSU contacts.  I only have a weeks track  record so far, but  OP has never dropped to marginal on gage as it was doing almost consistancely  before.

Hope this might be of some help to someone?

Thanks for the info Roger.  Strangely enough, after driving mine a while, it started working on it's on.  My gas gauge recently started working also.  Having one sit for years is not a good thing.

Thanks again for the info, Jack

Update on previous  post with the OPSU  on my 92 Capri-- The "cleanup" of all electrical contacts has given me good reading with no occasional drops.  On my car the grounding point on chassis was covered with original body paint color with little surface contact other that thds of stud.  Hope this helps the frustration some of you have had??

Thanks for the info, when I time I think I'll try this trick also.  Mine has been getting better with use as has the gas gauge.
