t-bird compressor wheel and housing for sale

hey guys, an 87 thunderbird turbo coupe just rolled into my local u pull it yard the other day and im going to take the turbo off of it tomorrow. once i have it and get it cleaned up i will update with some pics and a price.

Check to make sure it's an IHI turbo - the earlier t-coupes used a much larger Garrett which no good for hybrid use
I wanna say it was 88/89's with the IHIs but could have been 87 as well

It was 87 and 88. 89 Was the first year for re-designed 'Bird.

Pretty easy to tell. The correct turbo should say "WARNER ISHI" on top of "IHI TURBO" on the compressor housing. It should also have a curved compressor inlet that is bolted to the compressor housing.

I may be interested if you pull it.

85-86 is a Garret Super 60. Not a bad turbo but will do nothing for an IHI hybrid unless you are an accomplished machinist. You could use the chra and compressor and find a suitable T3 turbine housing but then you would need an adapter to fit the B6t/IHI flanged exhaust manifold.  The Tbird turbine housing is of no use unless you have a 2.3L Ford.

its a 1987 and its the ihi, i just did my tbird swap 2 months ago it looks exactly the same. ill pull the whole turbo if anyone wants it, i just know the wheel and housing is useful for the hybrid build

Yea, 87 is definitely the IHI. The Garrett is on 85-86 TC's.

so i pulled the housing off today and WOW that turbo was blown beyond all recognition, the wheel was mangled and the shaft felt like it was broken, but the housings in pretty good shape if anyone wants that, ill clean it up tonight and take pics

Do you still have the compressor housing? I just picked up a VJ11/Tbird hybrid that has no turbine or compressor housing.
