Title: Gas Mileage
Post by: Yuri on July 05, 2009, 09:30:00 AM
So I took a trip from Milwaukee up to Door County, Wisconsin.. a nice 200 mile trip each way, so I figured that would be a perfect opportunity to test my car's highway mileage.  Windows up, headlights down, soft top up, cruise control locked at 70 gave me an overall 36 MPG for pure highway miles. On the other hand I get around 28/29 combined city/highway.. but considering I have a rocketchip, and am running over 12psi... not too bad.

200-225 is what i get per 'tank' usually... remember.. it's an 11.1 gallon tank, and when filling up from the bottom of the red line will only put in 8.9 gallons... for me anyway

Im usually getting around 35mpg but last night I got my best yet on a fillup, went 365.6 miles, 9.49 gallons. Thats 38.5mpg. A lot of my driving is at 55mph.

Yessir

I think I wanna cut the coils a bit and see if I can drop it down an inch or so. That helps with aerodynamics a bit.

These cars are fairly sleek but I think the soft top kinda messes up the aero.

there are some springs on ebay for like 280. 1.25 drop i think

i am thinking about picking up a hard top for the winter time. i would get a new boot (there is a white capri in the junk yard) then use that one for the hard top. i hate driving with the soft top up. since i had the car in january i have only had the top up 5 times...all because or rain/dust storms..

Well I would go for a hardtop and adjustable springs but.... well Ive found some nasty rust on the car (like 6 inches of subframe shot as well as a big portion of the floor), and I have a nice festiva that saved me at one time, and I kinda feel that I owe that car something.

So yeah dont shoot me please. Hoping for at least 40 mpg out of a b6t festy, got around 48 with the b3.
